I was snagged….um…tagged by the very funny Alyson Peterson for this blog hop. I’m no good at these things, but I wasn’t going to say no to the very lovely Alyson, who’s truly blessed with an amazing spirit. I am way late on this post, so I hope Alyson forgives me!
She asked me to answer a few questions and then I’ll be tagging a couple of my pals to run with this.
1.) What am I working on/writing?
I just finished the first draft of my fourth Forever Love Story. It’s called The Second Chance Hero and I’m waiting for revisions from lovely Editor Jenn. The story is about Owen Kent, a Marine Reserve officer, and one of the partners in Reliance Software (which has been part of the landscape in the first three books) and Kim Torres, a former Navy nurse. Both were deployed to Afghanistan and their experiences there come to play in their every day lives and in the romance that develops between them,. These two have chemistry that’s explosive. I’m actually excited for revisions.
I also have a couple of other projects I’m developing, both contemporary romances. There’s nothing I can talk about, but I’m excited about the possibilities.
2.) How does my work/writing differ from others in its genre?
I don’t know that I differ all that much. Contemporary romance is so broad in scope, that I don’t think it’s fair to say I break out in anyway, especially when I think the genre has done so well for the readers. I create characters with multiple layers, I try to create an engaging world. I want my characters to find out about and understand themselves, as well as fall in love. Contemporary romance is about real life and my goal is to capture that, while providing my readers with a bit of a vacation.
3.) How does my writing process work?
It depends. The Forever Love Stories have a fast turn around so those are plotted and written in a couple of months. Then my editor has at it and we polish the baby until it shines. Other projects going forward I see having more lead time and being less pressured. That said, I will still do a loose plot, really flesh out my characters and create a great setting. Nothing will change the basics.
