Pssst…I did it.
Hey, did you see it? The banner right up there with the title of my first book? It’s right above this very belated post. Yes world, I am going to be a published author.
What’s strange is that nothing went the way it was supposed to. You see, I’ve written several books, but the one that landed me my three book deal with Penguin’s digital-first line, Intermix, wasn’t written. Not a single word.
Thoughts
I’ve had a hell of a winter. Between my father being sick, MH having to have a heart procedure (he’s fine), losing my aunt, and watching people I really like and respect at work lose their jobs, I’ve been feeling more lost than usual. Spring, with its promise of renewal and rebirth, is most welcome.

Writing Nirvana
So, as I mentioned in my Fantasy Friday post I had the opportunity to go to a writer’s retreat last weekend. Three writer friends and I were hosted at a guest house in a small lakeside community near Seattle, Washington. We took one afternoon to go into Seattle to Pike Place Market and our lovely hostess for the weekend conducted a writing master class for us as well.
Fantasy Friday
So, my post is not about a gorgeous guy today. Sorry. I’m telling you about having a writer’s fantasy come true. Are you ready?
No, I didn’t sell, and that of course would be the ultimate, but I have gotten myself into the enviable position of being able to pick a NYT bestselling author’s brain.
I’m spending the weekend at Cherry Adair’s guest house near Seattle, Washington. Cherry opens her home to writers at certain times and the stars aligned and here I am.
Picking My Battles
I bet you all think you’re getting another Harpy post. I’m sorry to disappoint you, but this is actually about the war I constantly have with the clock. The clock that doesn’t give me near enough time everyday to accomplish everything I need to do.
Stinking clock.
So, since this week is one of those weeks when I have to decide what’s important and what can give, I decided to use the blog to sort it all out.
